Handling

Tim Burton's 1989 film is a blockbuster adaptation of the DC Comics character Batman. The story pits the playboy-turned-dark knight detective Bruce Wayne (Michael Keaton) against the ghoulishly garish Joker, played by Jack Nicholson. Batman must stop the Joker's evil scheme to poison everyday household and beauty products with the deadly chemical Smilex. This film serves as the first installment in Warner Bros.' initial Batman film series.
